Ever since I was asked to host my own TV show with my sweetheart of twenty-five years, I feel as if Im becoming a stronger, more resilient version of myself. It all began with my faith to try new things and my belief that truly, as the Bible says, all things are possible.
Why Not Me, which is a book by Christian Life Coach, Valerie Barton, inspired me to try something new, something to utilize my gifts. Minsitering in the song is something I've been doing since Im nineteen and I began to feel like there was SOMETHING more for me. So being I have the gift of gab and absolutely adore connecting with people, naturally, I thought of being a host on a Messianic TV show!
“If Kelly Clarkson can be so much fun to watch and can introduce the world to great music and stories- and is not perfectly thin, then "why not me!” I thought. Kelly's show, as well as the shows hosted by Regis and Kelly, Fran Dresser, and some of the others, made me realize I could do the same thing -only I could highlight stories of FAITH! On my show, I would highlight music with a biblical message to REALLY inspire people.
This is where I learned my first lesson in having faith to try new things. While on set at Sid Roth's new show, SOMETHING MORE, I nonchalantly blurted out “Hey, I'd LOVE to try hosting a show sometime if you'd like me to volunteer. This could be my calling.” A week later I received a call, "Michelle, you and Joe will be flown out to NC to record FOURTEEN EPISODES. There will be thousands of not-yet believers watching in twenty-six nations!!!!
Because I have never done it before, I almost did not offer. But heck, I also never lead music for a music ministry tour with eight singers all over the United States! Sure, I have training in classical voice and a bunch of years of experience teaching voice, but coaching all the voices to be in perfect unity (audibly & visually) for a major outreach organization…that was a new one! I even told my trainer and boss, Jeff Millenson, when he offered the position: “Get the other guy who plays piano to do it” to which he told me he believed God was calling me!
